Beginning Knitting.
Learn the basics of knitting including cast-on, knit stitch, purl stitch, and cast off.  After you learn the basics in this class, you will be ready to register for any of the other knitting classes offered at the Fiber Garden!  Cost: $45. Fee includes one pair of knitting needles to start your collection! Length: Two sessions, two-hours each. Chunky Mittens.   A quick-knit project with a fabulous result!  Learn to knit mittens with bulky yarn and big needles.  If you have not worked with double-point needles before, this would be a great project for learning.  Cost: $45.  For knitters who have knit a couple of projects and are comfortable with basic knitting.  Length: Two sessions; two-three hours each.  Visit the Class/Event Schedule page for workshop dates or pre-register to be notified when additional classes are forming. Felted BagThis bag is knit in one piece...from the button loop, to the flap, to the i-cord strap, to the base!  Large yarn and large needles make this a quick knit in IMG_3925.JPG (2400166 bytes) a day.  This is aIMG_3927.JPG (1955242 bytes) small bag that measures about 8" wide x 8 " tall.  A perfect size for when you just need "a little something". Neck Warmers.  Attractive, practical, and quick to knit to warm up your winter wardrobe!   Mary will have two pattern options available.  One for intermediate knitters who have a bit more experience and one for those who only have very basic knitting experience.   Cost: $45 + materials.  Length: Two sessions; two- three hours each.  Visit the Class/Event Schedule page for workshop dates or pre-register to be notified when additional classes are forming. Simple Summer Shawl.   A beautiful, simple shawl pattern with a unique fringing technique!  This is an original pattern design by the instructor, Mary Vase.  Shawl is particularly lovely knit in mohair boucle or brushed mohair with size 19 knitting needles to knit up quickly.  Students will have their choice of commercial or hand-dyed yarns that will bring interest to your garment.  Cost: $45 + materials.  Basic knitting experience is all that is required...if you've knit a scarf or have done very basic knitting, you are welcome in this class.  Length: Two sessions; two hours each  Visit the Class/Event Schedule page for workshop dates or pre-register to be notified when additional classes are forming.  Instructor: Mary Vase

Two Socks on One Circular Needle.   Learn to knit TWO socks at once on one long 40" circular knitting needle!  No more single sock syndrome!  When your first sock is finished, so is your second sock!  The technique is so efficient, you may never return to knitting socks on double point needles again.  Cost: $45 + materials.  For knitters who have knit a couple of projects and are comfortable with basic knitting.  Length: Two sessions; three hours one session and two hours the second session.  Visit the Class/Event Schedule page for workshop dates or pre-register to be notified when additional classes are forming. Dyeing Self-Patterning Knitting Yarns. Learn to dye your own yarns that magically create fair aisle and striping patterns when knit...perfect for socks, mittens, and caps.  Commercially produced patterning yarns have been very popular...now come create your own and learn how the magic is made! Cost: $45 + materials.  Fee includes all materials, fibers, yarns, and dyes, but students are welcome to bring some of their own fibers or yarns to dye.
