Beginning Spinning...and Beyond! @ The Clearing

Jul 9,2017 - Jul 15,2017 Time: 6:00 pm - 11:00 am
Spend a peaceful week learning the art of hand spinning or expanding your skills! Beginners who have never spun before will learn to turn wool and other animal and plant fibers into your own yarns for knitting, weaving and more. You will learn hand and drum carding, spinning single and multi-ply yarns, and be introduced to elements of yarn design so you can understand how to design and spin your own unique yarns. We will incorporate some dyeing into the week and work with color. For those with previous spinning experience, this will be a week of retreat and total immersion into your spinning. You will set your own learning goals and agenda and Deb will work with you to help you accomplish your goals. Spinning wheels and all related equipment will be available for the beginning students. You will have the opportunity to try out many different spinning wheels throughout the week which will help you learn what kind of a wheel is best suited for you. Students may bring their own spinning wheels if they are completely assembled and in perfect operating condition. Please, no antique wheels.
